worship styles

>> October 23, 2009

The cool thing about Clutch is the opportunity to connect with pastors wives from all backgrounds and religious traditions.

We're curious to know what your worship experience is like at your church. So here's a poll of sorts.

Would you classify your church as:
a. liturgical
b. contemporary (praise and worship)
c. gen x/postmodern
d. traditional
e. blended

*I got my categories from pastorfinder.com

What about you? How would you describe your worship style? Is it the same as your church? Do you feel mismatched? How have you adjusted?

Tell us all about it.

PMS: what's your biggest challenge?

>> July 10, 2009

With each intentional decision to either be a stay-at-home PW, work from home or part-time or full-time there seem to be definite trade-offs.

The flexibility and availability you have to support your husband in ministry is often traded with anxieties of pursuing your own professional calling and financial sacrifices. Those with paying jobs often feel overly committed to work and dissatisfied with the time and energy they have left to give to home, family and church.

What's your biggest challenge regarding your work set-up? Is it financial? fulfillment? lack of energy? guilt? or something else.

What is your favorite hobby?
What has been the highlight of your life?
What are you passionate about?
What's something most people don't know about you?
What do you wish most people *got* about you?

has the falling economy landed at your house yet?

>> February 24, 2009

Seems like none of us can escape the grim news about our economy reported on the news, on the web, on the radio,...everywhere. Some churches are struggling too---laying off employees and or not being able to hire the people they need.

All of the employees in my PH's area conference are getting a 5% paycut and their continuing education budget has been cut altogether (no Catalyst West for us).

Has the failing economy hit close to home for you already? Has your church been affected?

>> January 13, 2009

If you got a chance to check out Holly Furtick's blog (mentioned in yesterday's interview) you probably saw that her husband, Steven, was interviewed for the Style section of her local newspaper. In it he credits Holly for his style. "When I was in college I had no sense of style and then I met Holly, and we dated in college, and she's been my wardrobe consultant ever since." He also advises other ministers to, in matters of wardrobe and style, "get some help. Ask your wife."

So, are you your PH's wardrobe consultant too? Who does he go to for style advice? How intentional are y'all, as a ministry couple, about the image you portray through your clothes?

one word resolution

>> January 1, 2009

Happy 2009, everybody!

Don't you just love a God that grants us new days, new weeks, new months, new seasons and new years to start over, renew our minds, begin again? It's a wonderful gift. Indeed, "his mercies begin afresh each morning."

One question for you:

What character-related trait would you like God to begin developing in you this brand new morning of this brand new year?

Just a one-word answer will do.

Mine? Discipline. Yours?
