what message do we send?

>> March 4, 2010

Lots of people have mixed message about organized "religion" in today's society. And sometimes we as Christians don't help sort out the confusion.

As PW's, we have the opportunity to help our husbands influence how people view God and the church. Here's what one church did to communicate to people around them. What does your church do?

This was a well done video. Creative. Yet, I wander if the church is really that accepting. If I were to show up there, what would be my perspective after a few weeks, or even just one visit? Sometimes I think it is easier for us to create PR for our church than to pray the PR into our congregations. I would rather go to a church that I saw active in the community, and not just centered on their church.
Pray ladies. Pray. Pray for revival in our lives and in our congregations' lives.

I really like this video. I think the best way to communicate this message in our communities about our churches (if it's really the case) is by individuals living this out. I think it breaks down to the dailyness of life with those around us. Are we willing to be as "open" and "accepting" to our neighbors, co-workers, etc while showing Christ. We can show these videos and put the message on the billboard but it boils down to living it out Monday - Saturday and not just a sweet, accepting embrace on Sunday. And this is not always easy to do. Because while it's exciting to have my unsaved neighbors coming to church with me (in their tatoos and jeans)what do I do when they want their kids to play with mine? It's risky because that's when my kids learn words that aren't very church-y, they pick up attitudes and responses that we in turn have to point out and correct. But this is not a bad thing and I personally think it's worth it and it's what we are called to do as believers.
