I know this is going to sound strange... but this year one of my "gifts" was to be able to spend the entire afternoon... ALONE!!
It's been one of the nicest gifts my husband has ever given me! I just went to lunch with a book and then went to a coffee shop with my laptop and my Bible - it was FABULOUS!!!
One Mother's day maybe 5 years back my daughter who is now 30 sent me a card on the inside just wrote in big letters THANK YOU for being my Mom! I know it sounds odd and not a big deal but I have never forgotten that card. Simple but touching to my heart.
